Mediation

A certified mediator in family law is a professional who is trained to assist the parties to communicate about the issues that need to be resolved. The Mediator is neutral and does not represent either party. If the mediator is an attorney, the mediator cannot represent either party in the subsequent dissolution or divorce. The spouses are typically advised to have their own attorney, but the attorneys rarely participate in the mediation sessions. The parties are actively engaged in reaching their own resolution.

If the parties successfully mediate an agreement, it allows them to proceed with a Dissolution or uncontested divorce, thus avoiding additional cost and conflict.
